Floral Fiend

I thought I'd make a post about my #1 obsession: florals. You know how some people say they have too much of one color in their closet? Like black, blue or pink? Well, my problem is like that, but with florals instead of a color. I love them too much to care though, so I just keep buying anything floral!
Here are a few collections, celebrities, and clothes that are all fabulously floral.

Thrift Shopping and The Waterfront

Yesterday, I did some much needed thrift shopping with my friends Nicole and Michelle in Williamsburg.  We hit up a few thrift stores; Buffalo Exchange, the Salvation Army, ViceVersa and maybe 1 or 2 more whose names I can't remember. It was fun looking threw the endless racks of clothing, and I found a lot of great things! I was on a bit of a budget, as always, so I definitely had to hold back a bit. I ended up buying only three things all at Buffalo exchange. I tried on a really cute floral dress, which was actually extremely flattering on me, but it would have added about $20 more to my purchase and I didn't want to blow off all of my more on the first store I went to. Now all  I think about is going back to get that dress though!!

                                                     Here's what I bought:
                                                              Skirt: $8
                                                              Bag: $9.50
                                                              Belt: $10.50
                                                All from Buffalo Exchange

After shopping we took a break and went to the Waterfront to hang out and relax by the water. There's a beautiful view of the city there, right by the shore, so we took advantage of the scenery and took some photos there.

They had a bunch of old photos at this warehouse we stopped by.

Where the Boys Are

I recently saw the film Where the Boys are (1960) and absolutely fell in love with it! It's about a group of girls (Merritt, Melanie, Tuggle, and Angie) who head down to Fort Lauderdale for spring break because, well, it's where the boys are ;)
I'm horrible at recapping movies, so here's the link for the IMDB plot summary if you're interested in reading more about the film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054469/plotsummary

The ideals expressed in the movie are radically different from today's (for example, in the scene where Merritt is asked to express her views on relationships, she says that maybe sex before marriage is not a bad thing and she is sent to the dean's office where they say they will consider if she can remain in the school over spring break). It may seem absurd by today's standards, but I thought it was interesting to see how much times have changed.

I've mentioned that I'm obsessive about 50s and 60s fashion, so this movie definitely left a lasting impression. Most of the movie takes place on the beach, which is amazing because that means plenty of classic swimwear!  Right after I saw the movie, I spent over an hour searching for photos from the film to share with you all. I may have gone a bit overboard, saving any picture I can find, but hopefully that's a good thing. I also have a trailer from the original film!
